Taya Group (1609.TW) held its "70th Anniversary Press Conference: Unchanging Vision, Sustainable New Chapter" today (4th) at the Shangri-La Far Eastern, Tainan. Founded in 1955 in Tainan as a wire and cable manufacturer, Taya has undergone seven decades of strategic transformation and expansion. Today, the group has evolved into a leading brand in energy connectivity and sustainable development.

Taya has not only witnessed the major industrial shifts in Taiwan but has also demonstrated its commitment to integrating corporate growth with social prosperity through stable management and concrete actions.

Since its founding, the Group's business has expanded from wires and cables into copper materials, solar power, energy storage systems, and renewable energy. Chairman Shen Shang-hung reflected:

"Taya started with a single cable. Our founders, Shen Da-zhi and Shen Jin-cheng, built this company from scratch in an era of scarcity, pulling Taya’s first production line together with their bare hands and unwavering faith. We have inherited their resilience, dedication, and pragmatism. Today, Taya is deeply rooted in Taiwan with a global presence. Throughout these seventy years of overcoming challenges and embracing transformation, every achievement has stemmed from our employees' hard work, our partners' support, and the trust of society. Our commitment to this land and society is not about following ESG trends; rather, it is our hope that because of Taya's existence, society gains a bit more positive impact, and the environment gains a bit more sustainable energy."

The press conference commenced with a performance by the Hualien Youth Pan Flute Ensemble. Chairman Shen Shang-hung shared that he first heard the ensemble in late 2024 and was deeply moved by the children's perseverance in pursuing their dreams despite limited resources. "For children in rural areas, music is more than just a skill; it provides a stage where they can find their voice and confidence. We are honored to support initiatives that nurture Taiwan's next generation. By inviting the ensemble to perform in Tainan, Taya is not only supporting these children but also realizing our vision for cultural heritage and intergenerational inclusion."

It is worth noting that since 2016, the Hualien Youth Pan Flute program—co-organized by the Hualien County Government and StarAction Marketing Technology Co., Ltd.—has become a cornerstone of Hualien's arts education, now spanning 31 schools and 550 students. Ms. Chang Kai-chia, Artistic Director of StarAction, expressed her gratitude to Chairman Shen for his full support in making tonight’s (the 4th) charity concert at the Tainan Cultural Center a reality. This opportunity not only fulfills the children's dream of performing in Tainan but also includes a visit to Taya's "Fishery-Solar" symbiosis site the following day, further highlighting the company's commitment to education and social prosperity.

Throughout seventy years of daily operations, Taya has deeply understood that sustainability is not a mere slogan, but a commitment realized through every choice and decision. Taya has integrated sustainable development into its core operations, demonstrating significant results across the three pillars of ESG:

Climate Action In 2024, the Group’s Scope 1 and 2 emissions decreased by 17% compared to the base year (2021), and carbon footprint verification for five products was completed. Starting in 2025, the parent company will wheel 3.4 million kWh of green power annually from its own solar power plants, with the expectation of achieving the RE10% goal.

Sustainable Supply Chain In 2025, in collaboration with E.SUN Bank and the Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC), Taya is encouraging suppliers to initiate raw material carbon footprint inventories and third-party verifications to reduce Scope 3 emissions. Taya has completed ESG risk assessments for 97% of its key suppliers and has received numerous accolades, including the "CDP Carbon Management Award" from Chunghwa Telecom, Business Weekly’s "Top 100 Carbon Competitiveness," and CommonWealth Magazine’s "1.5°C Label."

Social Welfare The "Phoenix Flower Forum" and "Green Collection Selection," organized by the Taya Electric Wire & Cable Green Homeland Foundation, have supported nearly 200 groups dedicated to environmental protection. The Foundation also consistently promotes initiatives such as the "Old House Electrical Safety Check-up" and "Handmade Trail" projects, while supporting sustainable actions like the "iTrail Taiwan Trail Guardians" and the "Alangyi Waste Reduction & Beach Cleanup." Furthermore, the Group’s "Wang-Lai Marathon" annually invites employees and the public to participate, simultaneously showcasing the spirit of sustainability, local characteristics, and athletic development.

Facing the global wave of Net-Zero emissions and energy transition, Chairman Shen Shang-hung pointed out that Taya began investing in solar power and renewable energy over a decade ago. These efforts have not only laid the foundation for Taya's ESG practices but also provided momentum for Taiwan's energy transition. He emphasized: "Our 70th anniversary is a new starting point. We will continue to drive transformation with a steady force, co-creating a beautiful home for Taiwan's land, industry, and society."

Chen Chung-kuang, General Manager of the General Management Office, stated: "Taya will continue to advance climate action, expand the application of renewable energy, and strengthen our sustainable supply chain. We will also actively engage in diverse public welfare initiatives to comprehensively deepen the Group’s sustainable impact."
